Bothy Flake is a distinctive pipe tobacco created by Samuel Gawith for the Kearvaig Pipe Club, inspired by the traditional Scottish bothies—remote stone shelters that provide refuge for hikers in the Highlands. The blend combines premium Virginia tobaccos with a small portion of Cyprian Latakia, finished with a delicate topping of Highland Malt Whisky, capturing the unmistakable character of the Scottish Highlands.

Produced using Samuel Gawith’s traditional hot-pressed flake process, Bothy Flake burns slowly and coolly while delivering remarkable depth. The smoke opens with the natural sweetness of matured Virginias, offering notes of malt, fresh hay, and toasted bread. As the bowl develops, the Highland malt whisky introduces subtle peaty, oaky, and malty aromas, beautifully complemented by the gentle campfire smoke, wood, and leather notes of the lightly applied Latakia. Rather than dominating the blend, the whisky topping enhances the tobacco’s natural character, creating a smooth, rich, and exceptionally well-balanced smoking experience.
