Louisiana Flake is one of Gawith Hoggarth’s signature Virginia/Perique (VaPer) blends. It combines premium Virginia tobaccos with genuine Louisiana Perique, traditionally hot-pressed into flakes and finished with a delicate cocoa/chocolate topping. Unlike many VaPer blends that emphasize Perique’s peppery intensity, Louisiana Flake focuses on balance, allowing the natural sweetness of Virginia and the fruity character of Perique to shine through in a refined and approachable smoke.

Produced using the traditional pressed flake method, the tobacco burns slowly and coolly while delivering excellent depth. Upon lighting, the Virginias offer notes of natural sweetness, fresh hay, toasted bread, and light caramel. The Perique gradually introduces flavors of fig, raisins, dried plum, and gentle black pepper, adding complexity without overpowering the blend. A subtle cocoa topping runs quietly throughout the bowl, enhancing nutty, malty, and toasted notes while allowing the natural tobacco character to remain the focus.
