Virginia No. 1 is one of Mac Baren’s longest-standing classics, first introduced in 1955, and remains one of the world’s most recognized Straight Virginia pipe tobaccos. Crafted from 100% premium Virginia leaf sourced from several renowned growing regions, the tobacco is traditionally pressed and partially rubbed out using Mac Baren’s signature Ready Rubbed process, combining the richness of pressed tobacco with the convenience of a loose mixture. A very light natural sugar casing is applied only to enhance the tobacco’s inherent sweetness. Upon lighting, the blend delivers notes of fresh hay, malt, honey, toasted bread, and delicate citrus, gradually developing into flavors of caramel, ripe fruit, black tea, and subtle wood as the bowl progresses. Cool-burning, naturally sweet, and exceptionally balanced, Virginia No. 1 is an outstanding all-day smoke with excellent aging potential. Allowing the tobacco to dry for 10–20 minutes before packing will further improve ignition, combustion, and flavor development.
