Artisan’s Blend is a full-bodied English mixture from Ashton, combining Virginia, Latakia, Oriental/Turkish, and Perique tobaccos to create a rich, smoky, and spicy smoking experience. Latakia forms the backbone of the blend with deep smoky, woody, and earthy notes, while the Orientals contribute herbal, spicy, and subtly tangy nuances. Perique adds peppery spice and depth, while Virginia provides a natural sweetness that helps round out the blend. Free from noticeable added flavoring and presented in a Ribbon Cut, Artisan’s Blend burns steadily and develops considerable depth throughout the bowl. Earlier versions featured Syrian Latakia, while the current production uses Cyprian Latakia, so some differences between older and newer tins can be expected. Full-flavored, smoky, and richly layered, this is an English blend particularly well suited to experienced pipe smokers.
