Cornell & Diehl Bijou is a refined Virginia/Oriental blend from C&D’s Cellar Series, built around choice 2003 vintage Eastern North Carolina Red Virginias, accented by sweet Bright Virginia and small-leaf Katerini Oriental, then finished with a subtle touch of honey before being pressed and sliced into delicate Flakes. The mature Red Virginias provide natural sweetness with dark-fruit, bready and woody depth, while the brighter leaf contributes citrus, grass and lively sweetness. Katerini adds distinctive floral, herbal, woody and gently spicy Oriental complexity, with the restrained honey casing rounding the profile without masking the natural tobaccos. Smooth, nuanced and designed with aging in mind, Bijou is especially appealing to Virginia and Oriental enthusiasts, with C&D estimating its peak maturation at approximately 10–15 years.
